Dr Sam Vardy
I am an artist and architectural educator and researcher.
My practice and research with a place of their own explores xeno-architectures through critical engagement with social practices and processes of de&re-territorialisation, sonic territories and radio as a spatial practice.
Through practice and writing I investigate politics of space and urban practice, with a focus on spatial self-organisation and autonomous politics and spaces as explored in my PhD from Sheffield University School of Architecture (2016).
At Sheffield Hallam University School of Architecture I am Course Leader for the M.Arch in Architecture, which explores new praxis of architecture, social and political design and ecologies of architecture and cities.
I am a member of the Space and Place Research Group at SHU and sit on the national Architectural Humanities Research Association (AHRA) Steering Group.
